Dunwoody playgrounds and park restrooms will be closed starting Friday to help protect against the spread of COVID-19.
Dunwoody, GA – March 19, 2020 – Starting Friday, the City of Dunwoody will close playgrounds and park restrooms to help protect against the spread of COVID-19. This is an emergency administrative action that applies to all city parks. Dunwoody parks with playground equipment include the following
- Brook Run Park
- Dunwoody Park and Nature Center
- Georgetown Park
- Pernoshal Park
- Windwood Hollow Park
“We’re putting the safety and well-being of children and families first,” said Dunwoody Parks & Recreation Director Brent Walker. “Our trails remain open, but we’re asking people to avoid congregating in groups of 10 or more anywhere in our parks, based on guidance from the CDC.”
On Friday morning, signs will be placed at the playgrounds to let people know they’re closed. Park restrooms will be locked. Both measures will stay in effect until further notice but can be lifted at any time.
“Our playgrounds don’t have gates that we can lock,” Walker explained. “But we expect that people will want to do the right thing to protect their families. Social distancing is key.”
