Recycle the political signs!!

Tomorrow we can all take our political yard signs down and congratulate the winners!  I had a suggestion from a neighbor plus  I asked my friend Sandi (who I have dubbed the Recycle Queen) about the possibility of recycling the signs and wanted to share the below information with you in case you are willing to recycle and don’t want to just throw your signs in the trashcan!

Recycle the bottom metal posts:

  1. You can click here to email Melanie Antos your address and she will come pick them up from your house.
  2. You can drop them off at Melanie Antos’ house on her front porch.  Her address is 5163 Meadowlake Drive, Dunwoody, 30338.

Recycle the top of the sign (the actual sign):

  1. DeKalb Sanitation will NOT recycle the signs that have plastic coating.  They only recycle the signs that are paper and can be torn.
  2.  Sandi my “recycle queen” suggests that we could do like she does and  keep all the signs and use them for yard sales or other events by covering them with paper.
  3. Sandi has a call into Keep Dekalb Beautiful to see if there are any organizations that recycle this material and if we find one I’ll update this post!

Update from Susan Wittenstein:

We already have a plan for Robert’s signs.  We know where every sign is located (except the ones that were stolen from yards) and have a team ready to pick them up after the election.  We did this last time and are reusing 85 of the 100 signs we had before – along with new ones as the demand was higher.  We’ve notified our sign “hosts” so I hope they don’t recycle them other ways.

Update from Lisa Victory:

There will likely be runoffs, so if people have signs supporting those candidates that end off in a runoff, they should either return their signs to the candidate or continue to display those signs 🙂

Update from Janie James:

Another suggestion for the signs is to contact the school drama and art depts to see if they could use them.
