Other than eating it all what do you plan to do with your extra Halloween candy?
I posted a list from Pebble Tossers with a few great charitble suggestions and you can click here to see that list.
Heidi Forth emailed me this morning to suggest dropping your extra candy at a local fire station. I think this is an excellent idea and my boys and I have done this in the past and they loved it!
I’m opening the comments forum so that others can continue to post suggestions directly to this post.
I’m also curious about how much Halloween candy you let your kids eat and would love commentary about that. Do you let them gorge themselves on Halloween and then give the rest away? Do you let them keep it ALL and eat slowly away at it until it is all gone? Please share!

My temple is gathering candy for the Sandy Springs Community Action Center.I have called a few times this morning and can’t reach them to find out how they will be dispersing the candy. I’ll get back to you once I find out more.

Some local dentists are doing a buy back of Halloween candy and then sending it to the troops overseas! Saw this on CNN this morning.

I’m a volunteer for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Hard candy including lollipops can be sealed in a plastic bag and packed in a shoebox with other gifts that will be sent to hurting children throughout the world. For more information, go to samaritanspurse.org and click on the Operation Christmas Child link.
We “trade” a new Webkinz toy for the bag of goodies for each kid…that way the adults don’t eat all the candy the kids don’t like. The kids pick about 10-15 pieces to keep and savor and the rest get donated. Thanks for the list of donation places!!!
Thanks so much for the neat ideas for extra candy Audra! We will definitely be doing that. I had heard a news story a few years ago that people going through chemo get an awful taste in their mouth and candy/chocolate is something that helps take the bad taste away. I took our left over candy to a cancer center and Northside and they had no idea what I was talking about. Just thought I would mention it in case you ever wanted to look into, or had the time, ha ha 🙂

We let each of our kids choose their favorite 20 pieces (out of the pounds of candy they collect), and then we donate the rest to Hospice Atlanta. They fight it every year, but once Halloween is over, they forget about it, and we, the adults, don’t have it around tempting us.
Our kids take their candy to the senior citizen homes and walk around and let the seniors pick out what they want. The seniors love watching my kids and talking to them. It puts a smile on their faces. My kids learn about sharing too.
Thanks for sharing!

Kingsley Charter School will be taking any extra candy donations to send them overseas to the troops. My son can pick out a few of his favorites, but then we will donate the rest!
This popped in my inbox after I posted the other info:

Audra, Thank you for the great ideas to donate candies.
My kids keep their candies for a week and maybe eat one a day. I disperse the rest of the candies by donating them.
