Friends, family, and wider community, we reach out today with a call for help. On May 31st, Shani Tsfoni, a Dunwoody High School and Savannah College of Art and Design alumni, was struck by a car while jogging in New York. Our sister was taken to a local Hospital where she was found to have fractures in her arm and leg as well as a head injury. In addition to emergency surgery to correct the fractures, Shani underwent an emergency craniotomy/craniectomy in order to relieve the swelling in her brain. She remained in critical but stable condition in the ICU for nearly 2 weeks before she was transferred to a regular recovery room.
As with most brain injuries, her prognosis is uncertain. Every day she takes small steps in the right direction, but progress is slow. Our family hopes to eventually have Shani transferred to a hospital in Atlanta so as to be closer to us. She has a long road to recovery, but Shani is resilient and strong and we know she can overcome this.
We are asking today for help in supporting Shani and our family through this difficult time. As anyone can imagine, the medical expenses are more than our family can manage. We need help paying for Shani’s medical treatment. Any donation can make a difference in alleviating the financial burden on our family, and allow us to focus on getting Shani back to her smiling self.
Finally, in whatever version of prayer you practice, please hold Shani and our family in your hearts.
With love and gratitude,
Ariella & Yarden Tsfoni
