The City of Dunwoody this week will begin work on a critical storm water project located on Delverton Dr.
Specifically, this storm water project is located on Delverton Drive approximately 220’ east of North Peachtree Road and 420’ west of Delverton Court. The project work involves the replacement of a large 60” corrugated metal pipe underneath Delverton Drive. The existing culvert is causing a sinkhole on one property and has deteriorated to the point that replacement is required. If left unattended, there is also a flooding risk on the south (upstream) side of Delverton Drive.
Initial construction work is expected to begin later this week. As long as weather allows, tree removal, material staging and some excavation will begin Wednesday through Saturday of this week. The city expects the possible lane closures on Delverton Drive this week to be limited to single lane, if any. The specific schedule will depend on the projects progress, but during the project this portion of Delverton Drive will need to be completely closed for approximately 2 days. We anticipate this complete closure to be sometime next week and detours are available via Leisure Drive to North Peachtree Road and Redcliff Way to Happy Hollow Road.
The city has reached out to the police and fire departments as well as residents in the homes adjacent to the construction project. The city will also be sending out alerts and announcements via its website (www.dunwoodyga.gov), e-mailed news blasts and social media outlets (http://www.facebook.com/CityofDunwoody and http://twitter.com/DunwoodyGA#/DunwoodyGA).
